Why is this important? Because if you blithely export your tree to a GEDCOM file without scrubbing your data first, you will lose some data, and your carefully crafted Evidence Explained citations will get mangled. Few genealogy apps do, even the ones that claim to. I say, “Not so fast.” Critically, FTM does not comply fully with the GEDCOM standard. Most of them make it sound as if it’s as simple as exporting your FTM tree to a GEDCOM file and importing the GEDCOM into their application. After announced that they were abandoning (aka “retiring”) their venerable Family Tree Maker (FTM) desktop application in Dec 2015, many users and genealogy bloggers asked, “What do I replace FTM with?” Several genealogy desktop app retailers offered discounts and help guides on how to transfer a family tree from FTM to their software.

The only think I see about the authorizations is that I had to give myself Read/Write Authorizations as Administrator on the 3 drives / partitions (command-i). I tried to dowload it again twice, then the former version, then the version before that (boinc_7.6.34_macOSX_x86_64 / boinc_7.8.6_macOSX_x86_64/ boinc_7.10-2.3_macOSX_x86_64). So I did it (I had to upgrade to 10.10 for a long time, but thought it can wait when I'll have some time this summer) and it took me some times (and it is not even on the same drive / SSD).Īnd this morning, I tried again… and same message. I had to do a clean install (my Adobe Illustrator won't launch and I need it every day). So I thought it was a problem of corrupted files. So I re install the OS from a former back up. Same effects after using TechToolPro and DiskWarrior. I tried to download again and again, try to fix the authorizations in the Disk Utilities, nothing same message again and again. The alert message says "that the installation program is damaged and that it can open the package, probably due a problem of authorizations" Apparently it was a problem of authorizations. I tried to reinstall my OS upon it, it works - I could boot and work for a moment- but some apps won't launch or re install, like Boinc. Two weeks ago, I have a serious crash under 10.9.5. 211 Using Carbon Copy Cloner to back up to another Macintosh on your network. I've been using Boinc now for years, without any issues. 64 Preparing your backup disk for a backup of OS X. Olivier from Paris, here (excuse my not so good English). |
